Bald Head Island - October 2nd

We had planned to go to Morehead City to visit a seafood festival, but since the weather was a bit iffy (It looked like it would rain), we decided to go someplace else.

We drove south along the coast towards Carolina Beach and passed through Kure Beach. We looked at the aquarium at Fort Fisher (from the outside) and took the ferry across the river to Southport.

From Southport, we took another ferry (this time without the car) to Bald head Island.
Bald Head Island is the most southern of the North Carolina Barrier islands, has North Carolina oldest standing lighthouse, old baldy, some restaurants and lots of very nice homes.

After having a drink at Eb and Flo's, we rented a golf cart, since no cars are allowed on the island.
We drove around the island, stopped at the lighthouse, and went down the beach.
I was forced to get my feet wet and sandy (see pictures) at the beach.
We drove around some more, and then went back to Eb and Flo's for supper.

We took the 8:30 ferry back to Soutport and then drove back home.
